Todd Proffitt is a Professor in Lighting Design, Sound Design and Digital Tools for the Department of Theatre and Dance at State University of New York at Fredonia. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Lighting Designer for the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Mr. Proffitt has served in a variety of technical and design positions in such companies as Theatre of Youth, The Chautauqua Theatre Company, The Paul Robeson Theatre, Buffalo State College, The Producers' Circle, Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts, Angelfire Mountain Theatre Group in Angelfire, NM, Central Missouri Repertory Theatre and others.
He has been active in the United States Institute for Theatre Technology for over 15 years. He serves as Commissioner of the Lighting Commission, as Student Volunteer Coordinator in the Light Lab, Light Lab Chair, and Vice Commissioner for Programming. http://www.usitt.org/lighting/
He earned his MFA in Theatre Design from Texas Tech University in 1999 and 1994 his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Missouri State University in 1994. In 1999, he was the recipient of The United States Institute of Theatre Technology's Barbizon Award for Lighting Design.
