Theatre and Dance Student Organizations
Alpha Psi Omega (APO)
ALPHA PSI OMEGA was organized as a theatre honor society for the purpose of providing acknowledgement to those demonstrating a high standard of accomplishment in theatre and, providing a wider fellowship for those interested in theatre. The society is not intended to take the place of any regular theatre clubs or producing groups, but as students qualify they may be rewarded by election to membership in this society. The Fredonia chapter of Alpha Psi Omega (Theta Omega Cast) is dedicated to acknowledging the hard work ethic of those who have devoted themselves to the Theatrical Arts while achieving and maintaining a high academic standing in the university.
Student Dance Organization (SDO)
Student Dance Organization is an educational based dance organization whose main focus is to explore the other possibilities of dance beside performance. Our goal is to bring guest lecturers and artists to State University of New York at Fredonia to teach in subjects such as, and not limited to: Dance Therapy, Choreography, Dance Kinesiology, Education (at all levels), Dance History, Physical Therapy, etc...
Random Acts is an audition based comedy improv group! We incorporate short-form and long-form improv into bi-weekly shows. Our main goal is to make people happy, and do your best to harvest a love for improv on Campus! Come see us sometime!
Spontaneous Productions is a bi-annual event in which students create and perform original pieces of theatre within the time span of 24 hours. It is a great opportunity for young artists to hone their skills as a playwright, director, actor, technician, stage manager, or producer. In the same way it is a safe and supportive environment in which artists can also attempt to step into one of those roles that they have never tried before. It is also an event in which students from different areas of the department and academic years can come together and collaborate.
Orchesis Dance Company
Orchesis is Fredonia's student run dance company. The organization puts on two major concerts a year- choreographed and performed by students. Orchesis also sponsors guests artists, workshops, master classes, and charity events throughout the school year. The company allows every student, regardless of experience a chance to create and express themselves through dance.
