Sam Kenney received her BFA from the Purchase College/SUNY Conservatory of Dance in 1998, and her MFA from Smith College in 2004. Before joining the Fredonia Faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2007, she taught at UMass/Amherst, Amherst College, Smith College, the Amherst Ballet Theatre Company, and the New England Dance Conservatory. She has also presented workshops at the Foundation for Liberal and Management Education in Pune,
India, as well as numerous American College Dance Festivals.
Her choreographic credits include the InHale Performance Series (Philadelphia, PA), the Youth American Grand Prix Ballet Competition (NYC), Theatre Lantaren/Venster (Rotterdam, Holland), Irish Classical Theatre Company (Buffalo, NY), Buffalo Contemporary Dance, University Dancers of UMAss/Amherst, the Five College Dance Department, Amherst Ballet Theatre Company, and the New Castle
Regional Ballet, as well as her own company, Samantics Dance Ensemble, which was supported by the Northampton (MA) Arts Council. Two of her works have also been selected for performance in the Gala Concerts of the Northeast Regional American College Dance Festivals: 90% Metaphor in 2010, and Embodying in 2012.
