Theatre and Dance - Career Pathways

Theatre and Dance

What is Theatre and Dance?

The Department of Theatre and Dance provides training for professional, community, and academic theatres and dance companies within the framework of a liberal arts education. The B.A. degree provides general knowledge in Theatre Arts, including performance, design, technical production, theory, criticism, and history. Students who show excellence in Dance, Acting, Musical Theatre, or Theatrical Production and Design can pursue a B.F.A. degree to further their skills and study.

Academic Programs

Note: B.F.A. degree programs require an audition.

What Can I Do with a Theatre and Dance Degree?

A bachelor of arts degree in Theatre prepares students for entry-level work in all aspects of theatre. They may also pursue film, education, creative writing, dramatic literature, theatre history, and dramatic criticism. Students who earn B.F.A. degrees often go on to professional careers in their fields, including with professional stage, musical theatre, or dance companies. All Theatre and Dance degrees also prepare students for successful graduate study.
