Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.

Guest soloists include Fredonia alumna Chandra Downs, ’93; Professor Emeritus Daniel Ihasz and current SUNY Fredonia student Trevor Napoli. Alumnus Eun Joo Jeon, ’15, is the piano accompanist for the concert.

The concert about community will feature songs by Elton John, Ani DiFranco, Harold Arlen, Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, Rick James, Jake Heggie, John Corigliano, Ann Hampton Callaway, Stephen Flaherty, John Rzeznik, and Clara Schumann, and features guest soloists Chandra Downs, Daniel Ihasz, Trevor Napoli, and violinist Killian Simonson.

Concerts are Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hollywood Theatre in Gowanda (39 W. Main St., Gowanda), and tickets are available through the theatre's website; Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (1080 Main St., Buffalo), and Sunday, May 19 at 3 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church (3330 Main St., Buffalo). Tickets for both Buffalo locations are available online.

Kessler receives AIA Moynihan Award

Markus Kessler, who has shepherded approximately 120 SUNY Fredonia construction projects having a combined value of over $430 million, has received the 2024 Daniel Patrick Moynihan Award, one of three Professional Awards conferred by AIA (American Institute of Architects) New York State.

Department of Business Administration Professor Mojtaba Seyedian is a co-author of a book chapter, “Consumption Preferences and Utilities,” in the book “Systemic Principles of Applied Economic Philosophies: Producers, Consumers, and the Firm."
