The current production of “Murder on the Orient Express” at Syracuse Stage features a set designed by Department of Theatre and Dance Associate Professor Czerton Lim, who brought 2022 graduate Donald “Donnie” Woodard, a former student, on board as associate designer.

Agatha Christie’s renowned murder mystery takes place on the luxurious Orient Express, Europe’s first transcontinental express that initially covered a route of more than 1,700 miles, from Paris to Constantinople. A detective must identify the murderer among 12 passengers, each of whom had an opportunity to commit the murder. Performances that began on March 13 continue through March 31.

Mr. Lim and Mr. Woodard, who earned a B.F.A. in Theatrical Production and Design from SUNY Fredonia, have collaborated on several productions.

An interview of Lim, discussing the set design for “Murder on the Orient Express,” is included in a promotional video. It can be seen here.

Syracuse Stage is a member of The League of Resident Theatres, the largest professional theatre association in the country, and is commemorating its 50th anniversary.
