The 25th Student Research and Creativity Exposition will be held Thursday, May 4, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Williams Center.

The event highlights student research, completed under the tutelage of a faculty member, and culminates in a presentation of the research or creative work at the exposition.

Administrators, faculty, staff, students, and members of the community are invited to attend the free event.

Opening remarks at noon in the Multipurpose Room will include the announcement of the 2023 Donald Nasca Undergraduate Research Award recipients. The annual award was established through the Fredonia College Foundation.

Lunch refreshments will be served throughout the day while attendees peruse featured student work.

At 12:45 p.m., following the opening remarks, a piano quintet will perform the Brahms Piano Quintet in F minor Op. 34 in the Multipurpose Room. Between 1 and 4 p.m., oral presentations and performances will take place throughout the Williams Center and posters will be displayed in the Multipurpose Room.

An addition to the annual expo is a panel of professors and students, “Open Minds and Shared Voices: Making Student/Faculty Collaborations Possible,” which will be held in the Blue Lounge from 1:30 to 2 p.m. At the 30-minute panel, students and faculty will share their experiences conducting successful student/faculty research and creative projects. Faculty members will learn about resources and strategies they can use to maximize their impact and minimize the draw on current resources. Students will learn about resources and strategies they can use at SUNY Fredonia for research and creative activity, and will have the chance to connect with and be connected to faculty mentors.

Student presenters have been supported through a new program, “OSCAR@Reed.” Reed Library offered student presenters assistance in using best practices when creating presentations and posters for the OSCAR Expo. Reed Library invites faculty to schedule class sessions for similar purposes in the future.

Sponsors for the event include the Faculty Student Association.
