What are the most beneficial aspects of the Music Industry Program?

1) I really value how well-rounded our program is. Upon completing coursework, I feel firmly grounded in both the business as well as the musical side of the industry. We take classes from Music Theory to Principles of Accounting, from Web Programming to The Business of Music. Having a background in all of these different areas will give me an advantage when I am competing for work in the Music Industry.

2) The music industry is a very self-motivated, entrepreneurial based business. The program here at Fredonia has taught me to work hard, and understand that if I don’t push myself no one will.

3) The real world experience I gain through the Music Industry classes and the attention I receive from my professors allows me to tackle real music industry challenges with the confidence I need to be successful.

How will the Music Industry program help you in a career?

All of the knowledge I gained through the Music Industry program will be used to build and sustain my career. During my time as a student, I designed an artist’s website from nothing, planned two independent and successful performance tours, and acted as my own general manager. The experience, awareness, and abilities I gain from Fredonia’s Music Industry Program are extremely valuable and empower me to be a successful and marketable artist.

What are the most beneficial aspects of the Music Industry Program?

1) Although I am an Arts Administration Major with an independent study in the music industry program, I have become enveloped in the coursework and enjoy the opportunities I receive because of it. There are so many courses here that are directed towards learning more about the actual industry's relevant past, present and where it is headed.

2) One of the best things about the Music Industry program is the amount of experience that you gain. Here it is all about problem solving and learning by trial and error how to react to certain situations. Great examples are the Music Marketing and Promotions class and the Student Record Label, where we are given a real-world sense of responsibility. This program prepares you for all of the ups and downs you may find yourself in while working in the industry.

3) Music Copyrights and Contracts have been the most informative courses I have taken thus far. The professors are knowledgeable on the laws, as well as the possible outcomes that can come from faulty paperwork and situations. They are experienced and are able to answer most, if not all, of the questions we have regarding contracts and copy-written material. These two courses are essential when preparing to work in the industry.

How will the Music Industry program help you in a career?

While taking the essential Music Industry Courses I have gained a great understanding of how the Industry works. By partnering what I have learned with my Arts Administration Major, I am confident that I am able to apply all that I have learned in a working environment. Since I have been taking Music Industry courses I have obtained four internships in the industry and was the project manager for the redesigning of the Music Industry website. Now I am confident, prepared, and ready to work in the industry.
