Ensemble Audition Information

One need not be a music major to audition for any ensemble. Only 2 ensembles, All College Band and University Chorus, do not require an audition.

All Music Majors enrolled in curricular lessons are required to audition for ensemble placement.

 

Concert Attire for Bands:

Professional standards.  Learn how to dress appropriately so you are prepared for the professional world.
 
Option Men: Black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie, long, black socks and black dress shoes.  
Option Women:     Long (floor length or tea length) black skirt, black full-leg 
dress pants (no denim), long sleeves to the wrist, or a black dress 
meeting all specifications. No skinny leg pants.  Long-sleeved 
black blouse/shirt or jacket.  Simple jewelry.  Full length dress 
meeting all of the above specifications is acceptable but no slits 
beyond mid-calf.  (No décolletage, bare shoulders or necklines.) 
Black/off-black hose, black dress shoes, simple jewelry. Material 
must be opaque.   Equal to a tux in quality. 
All: Professional level required at concerts.

Note: Residence halls open at 9:00 am on Sunday, January 17. Students required to be here for auditions prior to that date may do so no more than one day prior to the scheduled time. (If your audition is on Saturday, you may move in on Friday; if on Sunday, you may move in on Saturday.)

Students scheduled for Saturday auditions will be notified of arrangements to pick up keys by their studio teacher. Students arriving on Saturday for Sunday auditions may check in and pick up keys directly at your assigned building (NOT the Residence Life office) from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. This time frame will be firm—if a student arrives early or late they will have to wait to get their keys.
