Flutist Dr. Nicole J. McPherson is currently the flute methods teacher at the State University of New York at Fredonia, the instructor of Flute in the Music Department at Buffalo State College, and the Adjunct Professor of Flute at Canisius College.
As a devoted recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician, Dr. McPherson currently performs with the Erie Chamber Orchestra, and ensembles such as the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the Erie Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra the Buffalo Chamber Players and the Silverwind Duo. Additionally, she has played in orchestras throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Michigan. She has been a soloist with the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Dr. McPherson has performed on public radio and television broadcasts, and can be heard on many award-winning and Grammy nominated recordings. She was invited to perform at the 2011 and 2001 National Flute Association Conventions and the Global Flute Workshop in New York City. As half of the Silverwind Duo, Nicole recently travelled to Abu Dhabi to perform, teach and record a CD in collaboration with New York University. Dr. McPherson has published articles in both the International Alliance for Women in Music journal and the Flutist Quarterly.
Dr. McPherson holds a holds a Doctorate of Music Arts degree and a Master of Music degree from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College.
