College Symphony Orchestra in King Concert Hall

Academies, Conferences & Symposia

The School of Music provides opportunities for students and professionals to deepen their understanding of the field through a range of special academies, conferences and symposia.

Conferences and symposia are collaborations with other institutions, faculty exchanges, guest artists, etc. These will vary from one to several days, depending upon purpose and intended audience, and can occur at any time of the year.

The School of Music Academy is a week-long event in the late spring to early summer designed to appeal to musicians, teachers and professionals to expand knowledge and perspective on a particular area of study. The School of Music Academy began in 2012 with the desire to bring marimbist Keiko Abe to Fredonia for an in-depth educational experience. In 2014, the academy focused on Arabic music, and in future years it will continue to offer innovative scholarship and performance. Ideas for future academies may be sent to music@fredonia.edu.
