For New International Undergraduate Students
President's International Scholar Award
This scholarship is a renewable $2,000 per year award (equally distributed $1,000 each semester) offered to incoming international undergraduate freshman or transfer students. In order to receive this award, students must have a minimum high school average of 90%, 24 ACT or 1100 SAT score or a college GPA of 3.25, and are required to: enroll as full-time students, maintain residence outside of New York State, maintain F-1 student visa status, make normal academic progress toward degree, live in a university residence hall (freshman for three years, transfers until they reach senior standing), and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years for entering freshman, and less for transfers, depending on their entering status.
Selection: The Assistant Director of International Undergraduate Admissions will choose the award recipients based on their admissions application and transcript. There is no separate application. Students will be informed of the award in writing shortly after admission.

For Current Fredonia International Students
Xylia Peterson Memorial Fund
Awarded to: Junior or senior international students. Background: Xylia Peterson was 45 when she passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Xylia came from Sri Lanka. She was a graduate of Fredonia, Class of 1985. She worked as a secretary at Fredonia for the Vice President for Administration and was a dedicated and hard worker. Xylia was kind of heart, had a very positive attitude, and lived life to its fullest. She loved her family and was an avid quilter and gardener.
Raymond Lai Scholarship
Awarded to: International student with preference given to a student from Hong Kong or China. (Established March 1995) Background: Raymond Lai is a lifelong resident of Hong Kong and a graduate of Fredonia. Mr. Lai's professional career closely parallels Hong Kong's emergence as a major economic entity. Following many years in the banking industry, including a senior vie presidency and two overseas assignments, Mr. Lai joined the Hong Kong Airport Authority in 1996 and is credited with being a major force in helping to make the newly-constructed international airport facility one of the very finest in the world.
Selection: An application for the above two scholarships will be available at the start of the spring semester for the following academic year. Selection is determined by a scholarship committee that ranks students based on a required written statement, campus involvement and academic performance.
