Students can contribute to online and social-media content, help organize literary events, and support alumni outreach. Also, students can explore the Career Development Offices resources for locating internships worldwide. Credit bearing internships are open to any registered student who has completed at least 30 credit hours and has a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Students may earn up to 15 hours of internship credit per semester and may count a maximum of 24 hours of internship credit toward the 120 hours required for an undergraduate degree. No more than 6 credit hours earned in any combination of internships and independent studies may be counted towards the major.

Additional questions regarding English Department internships should be directed to the Associate Chair, Dr. Natalie Gerber, or Jennifer Wilkins, Internship Coordinator in the Career Development Office, Gregory Hall.

Student Testimonials

Former intern Amandria Guadalupe reflects on her internship at The Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County

"The Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County Bookstore is the primary site for the Literacy Volunteers tutors, helping adult students improve their lives all throughout the county. The bookstore sells gently used, donated books and uses the profits to benefit the program. Some of the books donated are older and more valuable than the rest, and can be sold online to book collectors or those interested in older books. An intern is needed to navigate the internet to search for and decide the prices of the books, and then post them online for all to see! The intern will also help out at the bookstore, assisting customers, organizing shelves, and learning the importance of the workings of a non-profit organization. The intern must know how to navigate the internet and be able to work independently! An appreciation and respect for all types of books is also a must!"
