Dr. Tillery's research and clinical expertise involves the relationship of auditory processing disorders (APD), nonverbal learning disorder and attention deficits; and specific therapy aspects of APD and Ritalin's effect on APD. She has been honored to present 145 workshops or presentations at international, regional, and national conferences, and authored and co-authored 38 chapters and journal articles on APD. She is one of the five editors for the esteemed 2014 Clinical Handbook of Audiology, 7th Edition, and invited manuscript reviewer for Journal of Speech-Language-Hearing Research, Neurocase, Child Neuropsychology, American Journal of Audiology, Educational Audiology Association Journal, and Ear & Hearing Journal, Jones and Bartlet Publisher, Speech and Language Services in the Schools; and previous Associate Editor for the Journal of Educational Audiology and Canadian Hearing Report.
Dr. Tillery was honored with the 2014 New York State Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NYSSLHA) Distinguished Achievement Award for Outstanding Clinical Research and Excellence in Teaching and Assisting the People of New York State. Besides teaching and researching she was elected as the 2013 President of NYSSLHA, after serving two terms as a NYSSLHA Board of Director for Audiology and one term as Vice President of Audiology. She was elected as Co-President of Speech and Hearing Association of Western NY (SHAWNY) for two-years, received the 2003 SHAWNY Award for her dedication and service to the communicatively disabled of WNY, and serves on other Professional Advisory Boards and Committees. She is the recipient of the State University of New York Chancellor’s 2009 Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Distinguished Alumnus 2008 Award, Illinois State University. In the past thirteen years she has participated in the Healthy Athlete Special Olympic Program by providing hearing screenings to athletes in Canada, New York and China.
