President - Courtney Schmidt
Courtney Schmidt is currently a junior at Fredonia pursuing a degree in Childhood Inclusive Education with a Middle School Extension in Mathematics. The past three summers she has worked at a summer camp with children ranging in the ages of 4 to 10. Courtney has been an active member of Teacher Education Club since the start of her freshmen year at Fredonia. Ever since Courtney was a little girl, her goal was to become an elementary school teacher. She is very interested in learning all about different teaching techniques with the new learning standards.TEC offers a great opportunity to be more involved not only on the Fredonia campus but in the Dunkirk and Fredonia communities as well. In January of 2015, Courtney traveled to Belize with Friends across Borders and taught in an infant 2(1st grade) classroom. It was an amazing experience and she will be returning in January of 2016.Courtney is also Secretary of Friends across Borders, and a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, and Operation Smile. Courtney is ecstatic to be on the TEC e-board and is looking forward to a great 2015-2016 school year!
Vice President of Educational Resources - Amber Pollinger
Amber Pollinger is currently a junior majoring in Childhood Inclusive Education with a concentration in Mathematics and Communication disorders and sciences. She has a passion for helping people in any way she can, especially when it comes to teaching students. This is her fourth semester as an active member of TEC and her first semester as a member of the Executive Board. TEC has helped Amber learn more about the opportunities and communities around campus that expand her knowledge to becoming a future teacher. Amber believes TEC is a great club that has plenty of great opportunities; it’s a great college experience for anyone who is interested.
Vice President of Special Events - Tyler Burkett
Tyler Burkett is currently a senior Childhood Inclusive Education major with a concentration in Earth Science. He has been on the executive board for Teacher Education Club as Vice President of Special Events since junior year. Tyler is in charge of events such as Children’s Festival, Dress for Success Fashion Show, Pumpkin Painting, and Hanging of the Greens. He is also an EDP (Educational Development Program) student while also being a part of the EDP Chi Alpha Epsilon honor society. As a little boy, Tyler always felt teaching was in his blood. He would always force his younger brother and his friends to play school with him. When trying to decide a major and what college to attend, his mom was what really helped him choose. Fredonia has been the best experience and he will be disappointed to leave once he graduates. Once this door closes another shall open! Let’s go 2015-2016!
Secretary - Kelsey Drummond
Kelsey Drummond is currently a junior majoring in Childhood Education with a concentration in English. She loves to be involved with students anyway she can; this past summer she helped coach a travel softball team. This is her second semester as an active member of TEC and her first semester as a member of the Executive Board. Kelsey has participated in TEC events including Children’s Fest, Relay for Life, and Safe Halloween. TEC has helped Kelsey learn more about the opportunities and communities around campus to becoming a future teacher. Kelsey is really excited to be involved in TEC and believes that joining in TEC is a perfect college experience for everyone.
Treasurer - Allison Mullin
Allison Mullin is a junior Childhood Inclusive Education major with a Middle School Extension in Mathematics. Allison also is a B.A. Theatre Arts major and enjoying teaching theatre to students as well as regular classroom curriculum. This is Allison's first semester on the TEC e-board, but she is also the Social Chair for Friends Across Borders and the Secretary on the Resident Assistant Advisory Board. This is Allison's second year as an RA in Nixon Hall and she absolutely loves being involved with so many organizations on campus, especially TEC. Last January, Allison traveled to Belize with Friends Across Borders to teach in schools for two weeks, feel free to ask her all about it! Allison is very excited to be on the e-board of such a wonderful club and is more than welcome to answer any questions, help with homework, or just chat with the members of TEC. She is looking forward to an awesome and successful 2015-2016 year!
Civic Engagement Chair - Maria Serio
Maria Serio is currently a Junior double majoring in Social Studies Adolescent Education and History. This is her fifth semester as a TEC member. In addition to TEC, Maria is President of History club, Vice President of Social Studies Educators club, and a member of Alpha Phi Omega and Phi Alpha Theta, History Honor Society. She is also a Study Abroad Ambassador and a Tour Guide for Fredonia. Maria spent her Spring 2015 semester studying abroad in England, where she was able to learn about another country's culture and education system, as well as travel to surrounding countries. She is looking forward to working with other education majors through TEC and very excited to be a part of the e-board.
Public Relations - Danielle Kelly
Danielle Kelly is currently a sophomore Early Childhood/Childhood Education major with a concentration in English. This semester will be Danielle’s second semester participating actively with TEC and she is very excited to be joining the e-board. This is Danielle’s first year as an RA in Nixon Hall and loves being an active member of the Fredonia campus community. She is also involved in other clubs such as The Riveters, RHA, ALD, Early Childhood Education Club and is part of the Honors Program. Danielle participates in community service events such as Fall Sweep, Hanging of the Greens, and Relay for Life. She is beyond excited to become TEC’s Public Relations and cannot wait to get started working with others who share a love of teaching and getting to know the other e-board members.
