Welcome to TEC!
Teacher Education Club (TEC) is a SUNY Fredonia group for students looking to expand their knowledge and appreciation of the field of Education. This group is primarily student run and connects students to the community, College of Education, and surrounding school districts. TEC provides helpful information about trends in teaching, and vital pedagogical knowledge through guest speakers currently in the field.
Teacher Education Club helps students prepare for their professional year and future careers by offering workshops in resume and portfolio construction and insight in the craft of networking. The members are given numerous opportunities to reach out into the community and volunteer through tutoring and service learning projects. The bi-weekly meetings encourage networking and collaboration with other like-minded individuals—TEC offers a safe space for any student pursuing a career in Education.

2015-2016 Major Accomplishments:
We increased our active membership from last year. We have participated in campus events such as Hanging of the Greens, Relay for Life, Buffalo News Kids Day, Safe Halloween, Fall Sweep, etc.
Here are some sponsorerd activities that TEC has taken part in throughout the year!
TEC puts on is Children’s Fest which is planned in conjunction with Rockin in the Commons. We have a variety of crafts and activities for children of all ages in the Fredonia/Dunkirk area.
Dress for Success Fashion Show, is to demonstrate what to wear and what not to wear in a professional setting.
Books Across Borders is an event to collect books as well as school supplies for the Belize Service Project. Students travel to Belize and teach in three schools, throughout the year they will collect school supplies, book, technology, etc. to bring and and to the schools. The event is held in April with Golden Key International Honor Society and Friends Across Borders.
We had a wonderful opportunity as a club to take a field trip to the Buffalo Museum of Science. This trip allowed our teacher candidates to better understand the science curriculum as well as provide ideas for hands-on materials to encorporate into those lessons.
- We have had a variety of guest speakers at our meetings throughout this year as well. These are a few of the many who have recently joined our meetings:
- Nicole Hohenstein from the Office of Student Services come in and talk to members about certification exams and how to prepare for them.
- Dr. Rogers came to give a demonstration on Math magic.
- Dr. Smith came to explain the amazing opportunity of student teaching in Plymouth, England.
