Prospective Transfer Students

 

We are fortunate to have many students transferring from other colleges to our business and accounting programs.  Approximately one third of our student population are comprised of transfer students.  Their diverse academic experience at various institutions of higher learning is tremendously valuable to the learning process of all our students in and out of the classroom.

Advising Notes for Prospective Transfer Students:

A.  In order to be on track for junior standing at Fredonia, we recommend that students complete the equivalent of Fredonia's major course requirements at their current college/university:

            MATH 120 Survey of Calculus I

            CSIT 151/104 Intro to Information Systems/Intro to Microcomputer Software

            CSIT 251 Information Systems Structures

            ECON/STAT 200 Statistics

            ECON 205 & 210 Macro & Micro Economics

            ACCT 201 & 202 Principles of Financial and Managerial Accounting.

B.   For transfer courses to be counted for either required or elective courses in the major, they must be passed with minimum C- grades.

C.  All Fredonia students are required to complete the General Education Program, Fredonia Foundations

Graduation Requirements for Business and Accounting Majors:

A.  You are subject to the degree requirements spelled out in the University Catalog that was in effect at the time of your admission.

B.  You must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours of courses (each course counted only once).

C.  No more than four credit hours of 100-level Physical Education (PHED) courses will be counted towards the minimum 120 credit hours.

D.  Every student needs to complete at least 45 credit hours of State University of New York at Fredonia courses (Residency Requirement).

E.  At least 66 of the minimum 120 credit hours required for graduation should come from courses outside your major discipline.

F.  You need to have all the Fredonia Foundations requirements fully satisfied.

G. You must complete every one of the courses required for your major.

H. In addition to a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00, you need to have a minimum 2.00 GPA among the courses   required for your Major (This does not mean that you should have at least a "C" grade in every course; just a minimum "C" average among all courses).

I. You must pass every one of the "Supporting," "Lower Level Business Core," "Upper Level Business Core," and "Major" courses with a grade of C- or better.

J. You need to formally declare a specific Major in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Management, Marketing, or Public Accountancy.

K. You must complete an Internship course (minimum of one credit).

L. No more than six credits of internship can be applied towards major course requirements (does not apply to Public Accountancy major).

M. You must either fully complete the requirements of any declared Minor/2nd Major or undeclare such programs in order to able to graduate in your 1st Major.

N. You must complete at least 45 credits of any university-wide 300/400 level courses (upper level requirement).
