Transfer Student Admissions

Admissions Criteria

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required to be considered for admission, with higher GPA requirements for certain certificate programs and majors. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for students seeking admission to Education or Communications Disorders and Sciences programs.  A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required for our Communications program, while Social the Work program begins consideration at 2.5.

We also consider high school grades and SAT/ACT scores for students who present less than 30 credit hours of college study.

Most transfer applicants are admitted to a specific major. With more than 45 credit hours, you must apply into a major. Students wishing to pursue a major in the Visual or Performing Arts may have additional audition or portfolio requirements. Please contact the department or Aaron Marshall with questions about major requirements.

We welcome Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) transfer applicants. You must be an EOP student at the school from which you are transferring in order to be considered for EOP (known as the Educational Development Program, or EDP, at Fredonia).

Transferring Credit

A maximum of 75 credits can be applied to your degree at Fredonia.

Students entering Fredonia with their SUNY/CUNY A.A. or A.S. degree are guaranteed 60 transfer credits and junior standing. As part of the SUNY system, Fredonia requires all graduates to complete the SUNY general education requirements for a bachelors degree. Many of these can be completed prior to transferring, although it is not required for admission.

A guide of commonly transferred course credit is available at our Transfer Credit Information page. Not all colleges or courses are represented, so please call Aaron Marshall (716)673-3251, with questions about transfer credit.

Please Apply Now Fredonia as a transfer student.
